Tree Removal in Seneca County, NY

Tree removal across Seneca County, from towering village maples in Waterloo and Seneca Falls to dead ash on Romulus fencerows, planned around your property by Jason Tubbs.

Most removals in Seneca County fall into two groups. In Seneca Falls and Waterloo, old trees grow close to houses, garages, sidewalks and the neighbors, so the job is about taking the tree down in controlled sections and lowering each piece with care. Out in Fayette, Romulus and Varick, the trees are often larger and more spread out, and the real constraints are soft ground, field access and fences.

Tubbs Tree Service is based in Spencer and offers extended service throughout Seneca County. Every removal starts with a $50 on-site consultation with Jason Tubbs, who brings 20+ years of experience in forestry and residential tree work. You get an itemized plan with more than one option, and the $50 is credited to the job when you accept it.

What sets the price of a removal here

We don’t publish a flat rate because two trees of the same height can be completely different jobs. Jason prices what he sees on your lot, and the plan spells out each piece so you can choose.

  • Size and condition: a sound maple climbs differently than a brittle dead ash.
  • What sits underneath: roofs, porches, gardens, septic fields and lake decks all change the rigging.
  • Access: narrow village driveways, soft lakeshore lawns and planted fields decide whether a crane or bucket truck can set up.
  • Cleanup scope: full haul-away, wood left in rounds, or stump grinding added on.

Crane, bucket truck or climber on a village lot

Many older homes in Seneca Falls and Waterloo sit on deep, narrow lots with the big trees out back. When a crane can reach, it lifts sections over the house so nothing is dropped near the roof. A bucket truck works well where it can park on firm ground. When neither fits, our climbers go up with ropes and rigging and lower the tree piece by piece. A truck with a knuckle boom and log grapple then loads the heavy wood without dragging it across your lawn.

Where the wood ends up

Your plan can send the wood to local use as firewood or mulch, and sometimes as building material when a log is good enough. If you heat with wood, you can ask to keep the rounds. One local note: New York does not allow untreated firewood to travel more than 50 miles from where it grew, so wood from your tree is best used close to home.

Timing removals around wildlife

Bats and nesting birds use trees in the woodlots and hedgerows between the lakes. A quick wildlife check during the consultation, and sensible timing for trees that aren’t urgent, helps keep habitat intact while still getting the hazard off your property.

Tree Removal Questions From Seneca County

Do I need a permit to take down a tree in Waterloo or Seneca Falls?

Rules vary by village and town, so call your village or town office before work starts. Trees between the sidewalk and the street may belong to the municipality rather than to you. During the consultation Jason will point out any tree that looks like it sits in the public right-of-way, so you know what to ask.

Is stump grinding included when you remove a tree?

Stump grinding is offered as its own line on your itemized plan. You can add it to the removal, or book it later on its own if you want to see the yard first. Keeping it separate lets you choose whether to grind every stump, only the ones in the lawn, or none.

Can you remove a dead ash from a fencerow without tearing up my planted field?

Usually, yes. Jason looks at where the crew can drive, which direction the tree can safely fall, and whether the work should wait until after harvest. The plan will note the access route so there are no surprises. On farms in Romulus, Fayette and Ovid, timing around field work is often the biggest factor.
